The re-opening of the long-awaited Mammoth/Yosemite Airport starting in the 2008/2009 winter season has been a great benefit for the visitors to Mammoth Lakes, and a successful decision on part of the Town of Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. Starting with one flight per day from Los Angeles on December 18, 2008, has expanded to multiple winter flights per day from several destinations.
Last week United Airlines was proud to announce daily direct flights from San Francisco to Mammoth Lakes Airport. These flights are to begin December 16th and run through April 24th, 2011. The tentative flight schedule is a daily plane leaving San Francisco at 3:50pm and arriving in Mammoth Lakes at 4:56pm. That same plane will then leave Mammoth Lakes at 5:27pm and return back to San Francisco at about 6:40pm. Flights to Mammoth Lakes in roughly 60 minutes is terrific, and is less time than it takes to drive from the Bay Area to the Lake Tahoe area.
We are excited for the United Airlines expansion of air service from San Francisco to Mammoth Lakes during the 2010/2011 winter ski season. We welcome the “Bay Area” residents to enjoy some fantastic winter skiing and snowboarding on Mammoth Mountain.
